Macros
You can use macros to customize message text or Subject line of your message. When you send a message, macros are replaced with recipients information. For example, you may start your message with
Dear #/Text(First Name)/#,
and when a message is sent, the macro will be substituted with the first name for each recipient. John will receive a message starting from Dear John, while Jane will receive a message starting from Dear Jane.
Macro is everything enclosed between the pairs of symbols #/ and /# . Each macro starts from a macro name, and also may have some parameters in parantheses. If you need several parameters, separate them with commas. Examples of macros are:
#/Text(Name)/# inserts recipient name
#/Today/# inserts today's date
#/First(Name,Sir/Madame)/# inserts first name, or Sir/Madame if the name is unknown.
If you want to insert a new macro, Select Message->Insert from the main menu. If you want to edit an existing macro, use Message->Change Macro or just double-lick the macro.
If you want to insert a line break in the macro, use - both B and R must be capital.
We do not recommend using back slashes, commas, or parantheses inside macros. If you do want to use them, you need to prefix each such character with a back slash.
